Chinese mobile phone maker Huawei is reportedly gearing up for the launch of yet another high-end Android-based smartphone in the not too distant future, as it wants to fiercely compete with Samsung’s newly launched GALAXY S 4 model.

Although not official as of now, the new mobile phone is said to arrive on shelves with a 4.9-inch touchscreen display on the front, capable of delivering a full HD resolution, at least this is what a new report from IT163.com claims.

Furthermore, the smartphone is said to arrive on shelves with a 1.8GHz K3V3 quad-core ARM Cortex A15-based processor inside, and with a Mali T604 GPU.

The specifications list of the new device would also include a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, most probably with support for the recording of videos in 1080p full HD resolution, as well as a 2600 mAh battery.

The phone is expected to be unveiled as a flagship device, and should be one of the thinnest handsets on shelves, at only 6.3mm thick.

Apparently, the Chinese mobile phone maker is set to make the new mobile phone official as soon as the next month, though no specific details on its availability and pricing have been unveiled as of now.

Earlier this year, Huawei announced two other high-end Android-based smartphones, namely the Ascend D2 and the Ascend P2, but they are expected to have little fighting chances against the GALAXY S 4, a recent post on UnwiredView notes.

The news site also notes that Huawei might actually decide the cut the price tag of Ascend D2 when GALAXY S 4 arrives in China, so as to ensure that sales remain at a high level.

However, it remains to be seen whether the rumored upcoming 4.9-inch flagship from the Chinese vendor pans out, since it hasn't been confirmed as of yet, so stay tuned to learn some more info on the matter.
