Today, leading telecoms solutions provider Huawei announced the launch of Huawei MediaPad, their first tablet PC to run under Android, and also the first device in the world to sport the new Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system.

The new device comes to the market with a 7-inch touchscreen display on the front, while being powered by Qualcomm's dual-core 1.2GHz application processor, capable of delivering a great multimedia experience to all users on the go.

The new device comes with a stylish, ultra-portable package, and can deliver great performance capabilities, along with support for Huawei Device's Hispace cloud solution.

The MediaPad measures only 10.5mm (0.4 inches) deep and weighs in at only 390g (0.86 pounds).

On the back, the new device sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and HD video recording capabilities, and also features a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video calling.

The new tablet PC also comes with HSPA+ 14.4Mbps capabilities, as well as with WiFi 11n, so as to keep users connected at all times.

The Huawei MediaPad also comes with 1080P full HD video playback capabilities, Flash 10.3, and with Facebook, Twitter, Let's Golf and Documents to Go applications pre-loaded.

“With the Huawei MediaPad, we are demonstrating yet again that design, functionality and performance is within anyone's reach,” said Victor Xu, Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei Device.

“The MediaPad opens up new worlds of entertainment for consumers by removing the barriers to tablet ownership, increasing access to a truly high-quality mobile entertainment experience fully integrated with cloud-based Internet content.”

Huawei also notes that the new device should be able to offer over 6 hours of battery life, and that it comes to the market with a HDMI port too.

The MediaPad is slated to be showcased at Huawei's “Smart for Transformation” booth at CommunicAsia 2011 in Singapore. The tablet exemplifies Huawei's focus on power of practical innovation, the same as the company's smartphones do.

“With the 7-inch IPS touch screen, the MediaPad offers a standout visual experience for photos, movies and applications. Entertainment and gaming experience are taken to the next level with the MediaPad's 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor, high definition playback and HDMI port,” the company notes.
