Huawei and LG to help Google renew the Nexus lineup in 2015

A few months ago, we heard the first rumors claiming that Google would go to China for its next-gen Nexus device. Interestingly enough, it appears that the search giant will be taking up a partnership with Huawei to produce the next member of the Nexus family.

The smartphone will eventually end up replacing the Motorola-made Nexus 6, but until now, we had no information related to possible specs of the future device.

This week, however, brings us some fresh details about the Huawei-made Nexus. The folks at Gizmo China have uncovered some information stating that the new phone will come packing a Samsung-built 5.7-inch OLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution (the industry’s standard).

So far, Huawei has abstained from utilizing 2K displays in its premium phones, deeming them unnecessary. However, this might change in the future. Yesterday, the Mate 8 phablet leaked online showing that the company is finally ready to jump on board with 2K displays.

Google jumping on the Snapdragon 810 bandwagon too

While Huawei releases its own high-end models with the home-grown Hi-Silicon Kirin chip on the inside, the Nexus model will be taking advantage of the Snapdragon 810 chipset.

We’re certainly hoping Google will use the revised Snapdragon 810 version, the one that resides inside the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro and which brings about better performance and is less prone to overheating.

Sadly, these are all the details shared with the public so far. It seems possible that Google will want to add a hefty 4GB of RAM inside its next flagship, but this remains unconfirmed information for the time being.

The rumor mill has also been whispering that, apart from Huawei, Google is looking to partner up with LG one more time. The Korean manufacturer was in charge of producing the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 before operations went to Motorola with the Nexus 6.

Since Huawei is expected to be in charge of producing the next Nexus smartphone, LG might be taking up manufacturing the next Google tablet. A Nexus 8 or a third-gen Nexus 7 maybe. We might be given hints of what’s coming at the Google I/O 2015 conference towards the end of this month.
