14 DAY TRIAL // As we already reported two months ago, Huawei is set to conquer the Indian market with its range of Android devices
The Chinese handset manufacturer announced a while ago its plans to release the Huawei Vision, Gaga, Sonic and Boulder smartphones, as well as the MediaPad tablet in the country.
Although the handset maker did not disclosed any release dates for the Android devices, it looks like some of the smartphones mentioned have just gone live in India.
According to the folks over at AndroidOS, Huawei Ideos X3 and Huawei Sonic are now available for purchase in India for Rs 9,210 (US$180 or 135 EUR) and Rs 10,229 (US$200 or 150 EUR), respectively.
Both devices are aimed at entry-level smartphone market and come with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board.
However, the Huawei Sonic seems to feature a slightly larger 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with support for 320 x 480 pixels resolution, whereas the Ideos X3 comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with the same resolution.
Each smartphone is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz processor and pack 512 MB of ROM, 256 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
In the connectivity front, both Huawei smartphones offer HSDPA and HSUPA, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mciroUSB and built-in GPS with A-GPS support.
Even though both sport a 3.2-megapixel camera with camcorder, the Huawei Ideos X3 also packs a secondary front facing VGA camera for video calls.
Software-wise, the devices does not come with anything spectacular, but owners will surely have access to more customization options via Android Market.
In addition, the smartphones come with full SNS integration and Google's suite of services and apps, including Google Search, Maps, Gmail, Gtalk and more.
It is also worth mentioning that Huawei Sonic offers longer autonomy due to its high-capacity 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery, whereas the Ideos X3 is powered by an 1200 mAh Li-Polymer battery.
