Huawei may not be among the world’s top 5 smartphone manufacturers, but the Chinese company does seem to have big plans for next year, especially in the United States.

Getting into the US smartphone market has proven quite difficult for the Chinese company, but this doesn’t seem to have discouraged Huawei, as officials claim they have an interesting roadmap for 2015.

Until then though, Huawei has just announced the immediate availability of a new Android smartphone in Europe, the Honor 6. Although the handset was unveiled back in August, it looks like it took Huawei more than three months to bring it in Europe.

Oh well, better late than never, especially that Huawei Honor 6 is a pretty decent smartphone in the affordable price range. The only downside would be the fact that the smartphone ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and Emotion UI 2.3 on top, and is likely to remain on this version of the OS.

Huawei is not really among the companies that provide major software updates, and to highlight the fact, the company recently announced that the Ascend Mate2 4G, which was launched in the US in June, would never receive Android 4.4 KitKat update.

On the other hands, Huawei has yet to share any details on the possibility of Honor 6 getting Lollipop at some point. We will keep an eye out for more details on the matter so stay tuned.

Moving on to specs, the Honor 6 has been confirmed to arrive in the UK and other European countries this week and customers will be able to pick this one up for only €270 ($340) outright.

The smartphone is equipped with Huawei's in-house HiSilicon Kirin chipset

The smartphone is only 7.5mm thin and sports a more than decent 5-inch full HD (1080p) capacitive touchscreen display. Huawei Honor 6 is armed with a powerful HiSilicon Kirin 920 chipset that accommodates a quad-core Cortex-A7 processor, a quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU and a Mali-T624 graphics processing unit.

Moreover, Honor 6 packs no less than 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Another selling point of the smartphone would be the 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back which features autofocus, dual-LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. In the front, there’s a secondary 5-megapixel camera that should capture great selfies.

Last but not least, Huawei Honor 6 is powered by a high-capacity non-removable 3100 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Have you thought about picking this one up?
