It appears that Huawei is going to start producing high-end Android smartphones, as the Chinese handset maker revealed plans to launch its first dual-core device in North America via Cricket Wireless.

Even though it's not among the larger carriers in the United States, it seems that the companies have a close business relationship.

The upcoming smartphone is labeled Huawei Glory (Huawei M886) and is expected to be announced by Cricket some time in November.

Huawei confirmed that the phone would be powered by a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8655T processor clocked at 1.4 GHz.

According to the guys over at PC Mag, Huawei stated that the processor features a dual-core architecture, but Qualcomm's specs for the 8655T confirms that this is only a single-core CPU.

Furthermore, the Glory will run the latest Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread operating system, but Huawei stated that the device will be upgradable to Google's next iteration of the mobile platform, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Huawei Glory comes with a large 4-inches WVGA capacitive multi-touch display with 854 x 480 pixels resolution, Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS with A-GPS support and a high-capacity 1900 mAh Li-Ion battery.

In addition, the smartphone boasts a superior 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 2 GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Surprisingly, Huawei Glory will be delivered with EVDO Rev. B, but the handset manufacturer said that it will ship with Rev. A on Cricket in the U.S. market.

Although the handset is lacking TV or HDMI ports, Huawei officials told PC Mag that the company is working on a “surprising” media solution, which is not yet ready to show.

On the positive side, it looks like the Huawei Glory will be available via Cricket for under $300 on prepaid.
