We reported earlier this week that the Chinese handset maker launched a new mid-range smartphone, the Honor 4C, that will be available for purchase in the Mainland beginning May 7.

Today, the company officially introduced yet another mid-specced handset, the Huawei G Play Mini. However, this time the device was launched in Italy, which means it will go on sale in Europe in the next couple of weeks.

According to Italian blog Android.HDblog, the G Play Mini is already available for purchase in the country for around €230 ($255) outright, which is a decent price for a mid-range smartphone.

But let's see what the Huawei G Play Mini has to offer to that amount of money. First of all, the smartphone ships with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, along with Huawei's EMUI 3.0 on top.

No LTE support, but 2GB RAM and dual-SIM support

Moving on to specs, the G Play Mini seems to have the same configuration as the Huawei Honor 4C, but it features a completely different design.

The smartphone is equipped with a 1.2Ghz octa-core HiSilicon 620 processor, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, Huawei G Play Mini packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

The smartphone supports dual-SIM function and offers a plethora of connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.

The G Play Mini sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, and it's powered by a 2,550 mAh battery that has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

As mentioned earlier, Huawei will launch the G Play Mini in other European countries soon, but no timeframes are available yet.
