Leading provider of next-generation telecommunication network solutions Huawei has demonstrated at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona data download speeds of up to 600Mb/s on its latest LTE-Advanced system. According to the company, the speeds, which are 20 times faster than those available at the moment on 3G networks, are capable of revolutionizing the user experience through meeting bandwidth requirements of data applications.

The Huawei LTE-Advanced solution uses SAE (System Architecture Evolution) capabilities and sports PCC (Policy Charging and Control), which offer carriers the possibility to control the bandwidth utilization so as to optimize the end-user experience delivered to subscribers. According to the company, its LTE-Advanced system is the first to include multi-carrier aggregation and high-order MIMO technology, something that results in a five-times-higher spectrum efficiency.

“This milestone heralds the industry is moving towards the Giga-bits era of mobile broadband. Huawei is committed to accelerating the commercialization and adoption of LTE technology through continuously offering solutions to reduce the per-bit cost and improve the profitability for operators worldwide,” Wan Biao, president of Wireless, Huawei, commented.

Huawei also announced that the LTE-Advanced solution was being standardized by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), and was seen as a great enhancement of 3GPP Long Term Evolution. The solution will come with a wide range of features, including worldwide functionality and roaming, interoperability with other radio access systems, compatibility of services, and support for advanced services and applications (100 Mb/s for high and 1 Gb/s for low mobility).

Additionally, the company also announced that the GSM Association had delivered the “Best Service Delivery Platform” award to it, as a recognition of its leadership in the provision of innovative and compelling, new, mobile services. “As operators introduce more value-added services to both differentiate their offerings and drive revenue growth, the key to success is not a single 'killer' service, but rather, a 'killer environment' covering the complete service lifecycle that is able to support faster time-to-market for service innovations,” Kevin Zhang, vice president of Global Marketing, said.
