The rollout of the update will kick off in May

Huawei hasn't delivered a single Android 5.0 Lollipop update for any of its smartphones yet, but the Chinese company has just confirmed that at least four devices will receive the upgrade in the coming months.

A new report coming directly from China claims Huawei should start the deployment of Android 5.0 Lollipop to Ascend Mate7 devices sometime in May.

Huawei Ascend Mate7 will be the first to receive the Lollipop update, but three other smartphones will be eligible for the upgrade soon afterwards.

The Ascend Mate2 is the next to get the update in July. This is kind of disappointing since Huawei confirmed in a previous statement that this smartphone would be updated to Lollipop in the first half of the year. Well, better late than never, and a one-month delay is not such a big deal.

Along with Huawei Ascend Mate2, the Ascend P7 will receive the Lollipop update in July. This is the first time that we get confirmation about this upgrade for the Ascend P7, which is a more than decent high-end smartphone.

The last update will be rolled out in September

Last but not least, the Ascend G7 should get the highly-anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update sometime in September.

Sadly, those who own this mid-range handset will have to wait quite a long time for Lollipop to arrive on their smartphones.

Keep in mind that all four Huawei smartphones mentioned in this article will be updated directly to Android 5.0 Lollipop, regardless of what version of the OS they are running now.

This means that you should not expect Android 4.4.4 KitKat on the Ascend Mate2 given the fact that the smartphone is currently stuck on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The same goes for the other three Huawei handsets.

Along with Android 5.0 Lollipop, the updates might also contain Huawei's latest Emotion UI 3.0, but that's yet to be confirmed.
