The Ascend W1 is Huawei’s first Windows Phone 8 device. The smartphones was officially announced a few weeks ago and is slated for a February release.

Huawei Ascend W1 is a mid-range smartphone that is meant to compete with the likes of Nokia Lumia 620. According to WMPoweruser, Huawei’s WP8-based handset will be released in Russia next month.

The phone will be available for purchase for only 11,990 Rubles outright, which is about $400 or €300. That makes it a serious competitor to Lumia 620, which has just been launch in Russia and is now available for $395/€295 off contract.

Huawei Ascend W1 sports a vibrant 4-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and packs a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. The phone also features a 5-megapixel rear camera, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot.
