The Windows Phone 8 handset should be priced at €199 ($257)

Mobile phone users in Italy will be able to purchase the Windows Phone 8-powered Huawei Ascend W1 smartphone in their country starting with this week, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, Huawei has officially announced the handset’s release in the country, with a price tag of €199 ($257) attached to it, plaffo notes in a recent article.

The handset is expected to arrive on shelves at the end of this week, with a 1.2 GHz processor inside, Adreno 305 GPU, a 5MP camera on the back, front camera for video calling, and a 4-inch WVGA screen.

The smartphone also packs 512MB of RAM, as well as 4 GB internal memory, with a microSD memory card slot available for expansion purposes. Running under Windows Phone 8 Portico, the mobile phone is powered by a 1950 mAh battery.
