One of the highly appealing smartphones that Chinese mobile phone maker Huawei is expected to bring to the market in the not too distant future is the Ascend P2, which is currently rumored to make an official appearance at the MWC 2013 show in Barcelona later this month.

A new photo allegedly depicting the yet unannounced Android-based smartphone is now available for your viewing pleasure, courtesy of cnbeta.

Just as previously rumored, the smartphone is expected to land on shelves with waterproof capabilities, while also sporting dustproof features, in line with the IP54 standards, gizchina notes in a recent article.

Ascend P2 is expected to be launched as the next flagship Android-based smartphone from Huawei, at least for the P series. The company has already launched highly appealing Android smartphones this year, including the Ascend D2 and the Ascend Mate.

I'm amazed at how fast wrong news spread...
somebody probably used google translate on the original chinese source...
as a native chinese reader, i assure u that:
-the phone in the picture is a D2. the reference to P2 is actually referring to P2's reflection in the phone screen; P2 is used to take this picture of the D2.
-References to waterproofing are for the D2. no mention was made of P2 being waterproof in this leak...
-What was actually said was, Although the D2 was designed based on IP67 standards, technical difficulties in working with a metallic body meant that it will only be rated at IP54. However about 70% of final production should b waterproof, 30% slightly less, hence IP54...
