It’s already common knowledge that WIND Mobile and Huawei have a long-term partnership in Canada, which is why the carrier will be the first to launch the Ascend P1 high-end Android smartphone.

Both companies, along with Alliance Films, have recently announced the “WIND Mobile Expendables 2 Sweepstakes” contest, which will offer participants the chance to win a Huawei Ascend P1 and a trip for two to Los Angeles for Hollywood premiere of the summer blockbuster “The Expendables 2.”

We’re excited to partner with WIND Mobile and Alliance Films to offer one lucky Canadian the chance to attend the Hollywood premiere of The Expendables 2 in Los Angeles and be one of the first people in the country to own the Ascend P1,” said Alane Zhang, general manager of Huawei Device Canada.

Although WIND Mobile does not mention exactly when the Ascend P1 goes on sale, the carrier confirmed the smartphone is set to launch in Canada this summer.

Aside from the prizes mentioned earlier, the lucky winner of the contest will also receive two free months of WIND Mobile service providing unlimited Canada talk, text and data. Keep in mind that contest entry begins on July 9 and ends on July 23.

We’re looking forward to making the device available here in Canada in the near future and with it, the benefits of a richer mobile experience for Canadian mobile customers. It’s truly a remarkable smartphone, one that we’re very proud of,” added Zhang.

Previously dubbed “world’s thinnest” Android smartphone, Huawei Ascend P1 is only 7.69mm thick and it will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system onboard.

Hardware-wise, the device is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. Storage space can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
