As expected, Chinese handset maker Huawei announced that the Ascend Mate would soon be available for purchase in Australia.

As AusDroid points out, major retailer Harvey Norman has exclusivity over the phablet, so customers who wish to grab the Ascend Mate can do so for $430/€340 upfront. Check it out here.

Harvey Norman and Huawei agreed to offer customers who purchase the Ascend Mate a Boost unlimited prepaid starter kit worth $40/€30, which offers users unlimited talk, text and MMS, along with 3GB of mobile data.

Huawei Ascend Mate boasts a huge 6.1-inch IPS+ capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

It is also worth mentioning that Huawei Ascend Mate ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.
