Huawei is one of the companies that announce their major products during technology and telecommunication trade fairs. Each year at CES (Consumer Electronics Show), MWC (Mobile World Congress) and IFA, Huawei adds new devices to its lineup of smartphones, mostly powered by Android.

The Chinese company has recently announced that it has abandoned Windows Phone and that it has no intention of launching any Tizen-powered smartphones in the future. This means that Huawei will solely focus on Android platform, so Google fans will be pleased to have more choices at their disposal.

Having announced that it will hold its IFA 2014 press event on September 4, Huawei has just released the first teaser of one of the major smartphones that will be showcased next month at the trade fair, the Ascend Mate 7.

The successor to the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 will be announced in early September, but there’s no telling when and where it will be available for purchase. When it comes to price though, we expect Huawei to price its high-end smartphone aggressively in order to remain competitive in the phablet segment.

The 2-minute video shows 7 people who pursue unexpected dream with the Ascend Mate 7. Unfortunately, no details on the phone’s specs have been unveiled in the video, which is why it’s called teaser.

Luckily, Huawei Ascend Mate 7 was spotted last week at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, along with its specs. Keep in mind though that this is the Chinese version of the smartphone, so the international version might be slightly different in terms of specs.

According to these specs listed at TENAA, Huawei Ascend Mate 7 measures 157 x 81 x 7.9mm and weighs 185g (battery included). Opposite to what its name might suggests, the Ascend Mate 7 is said to sport a 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

The back side of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is made of aluminum and can be removed in case owners want to replace the battery.

On the inside, the phablet is equipped with a HiSilicon Kirin 920 chipset that accommodates an octa-core big.LITTLE processor with four Cortex-A7 cores and another four Cortex-A15 cores.

The Ascend Mate 7 may be powered by either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, but we know for sure that it will boast a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel camera on the front that’s perfect for selfies.

The smartphone will pack 16GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB) and LTE Cat.6. Obviously, Huawei Ascend Mate 6 will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box.

Last but not least, the Ascend Mate 7 will be Huawei first smartphone to feature a fingerprint sensor right beneath the main camera on the back.
