Chinese mobile phone maker Huawei has been rumored lately to plan the launch of a successor for its Huawei Ascend Mate smartphone, and it seems that the device has already received the necessary approvals in China.

The phone, supposedly called Huawei Ascend Mate 2, has emerged over at Tenaa with model number MT2-U071 attached to it, and with a 6.1-inch screen.

Unfortunately, it appears that it will retain the 720p resolution of its predecessor, and that it won’t be a full HD device in the end, as nowhereelse.fr notes.

The phone is expected to arrive on shelves with Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, while featuring a 1.6GHz quad-core K3V2+ processor inside.

The specs list of the upcoming phone should also include 16GB of internal memory, a 4050mAh battery inside, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, and front camera for video calling.
