Chinese handset maker Huawei has just announced that the Ascend G600 was available for purchase in India for Rs 14,990 outright, which is about $280 or €210.

However, the smartphone has been up for sale for about 10 days now and customers can grab it via major online retailers, including Flipkart, Infibeam, Snapdeal, LFR outlets like Reliance Digital, Croma, as well as from Huawei Experience outlets. Check it out here.

Unfortunately, the Ascend G600 does not come with the newest Android operating system; instead, Huawei included an older Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich platform with this one.

Aside from that, the smartphone packs more than decent features for a mid-range Android smartphone. In this regard, the Ascend G600 boasts an enhanced 8-megapixel BSI autofocus rear-facing camera, as well as dual DTS SRS speakers.

The Ascend G600 sports a large 4.5-inch LCD IPS qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

On the inside, the smartphone embeds a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Other highlights of the handset include secondary VGA camera for video calls, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, as well as HSDPA and HSUPA support.

According to Huawei, the Ascend G600 drains energy from a high-capacity 1930 mAh Li-Polymer battery which provides more than 15 days of standby time. More details on the Huawei Ascend G600 are available here.

“We are very excited to introduce the new HUAWEI Ascend G600, which gives more functionality and power for people who expect more from their technology. Building on the success of the Ascend range of smartphones, the HUAWEI Ascend G600 is the latest masterpiece in mid-range portfolio that makes exceptional product experiences accessible for more people,” said Victor Shan, president, Huawei Device India.
