14 DAY TRIAL // The Ascend G510 and Ascend Y300 went on sale in India about a week ago, but Huawei hadn't made the phones official until today.
Huawei Ascend G510 is the better-featured of the two and is available for purchase for Rs 10,990 outright, which is $200 or €155. The Ascend Y300 is less expensive and can be bought for only Rs 7,980 ($145/€110).
Although the phones are pretty cheap, both ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. In addition, the Ascend G510 and Y300 are powered by dual-core processors clocked at 1.2GHz and 1GHz, respectively.
Furthermore, Huawei Ascend G510 sports a more than decent 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution, whereas the Ascend Y300 features a slightly smaller 4.0-inch display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.
Both smartphones are packed with 5-megapixel rear-facing cameras that feature autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, as well as VGA front-facing photo snappers for video calls.
They also embed 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
Last but not least, the affordable Android smartphones come integrated with Huawei Emotion UI, which is said to offer innovative features, such as the Huawei Me Widget, five preloaded themes, “Smart Tutorial,” Profiles, and Special dialer.
According to Huawei, the Ascend G510 and Y300 are now available in India via online retailers, including Snapdeal, Flipkart, and Infibeam, as well as outlets such as Reliance Digital, Croma, and Huawei Experience.
