14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese handset maker Huawei aims to be one of top three cell phone brands in about three years. However, it remains to be seen how it is going to achieve that, knowing how fierce the competition is on the mobile phone market.
Until then, Huawei has lesser goals, like conquering the European smartphone market. Its first branded device will make its debut at Vodafone UK.
Huawei Ascend G300 is an entry-level smartphone that comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform out of the box.
Still, the Chinese company is not going to attract too many customers with only cheap devices. This is why Huawei is going to introduce two of its top tier devices in the UK.
Huawei confirmed for Pocket-lint that the Ascend D quad, Ascend P1 and P1 S will be released in the UK in the following month.
Although Huawei’s rep could not offer an exact release date for the “world’s fastest smartphone” and the “world’s slimmest smartphone,” he did say that Ascend P1 could hit shelves in the UK as soon as July.
No doubt about it, all three smartphones will be offered by the main carriers and leading retailers across the country, so expect them to be available for free on select plans.
Given the fact that Huawei is known for its not-so-expensive devices, it will be interesting to see how they will price the Ascend D quad, Ascend P1 S and P1.
All three smartphones have been confirmed to be delivered with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, as well as Dolby Mobile 3.0 Plus sound enhancement.
The Ascend D quad will be equipped with a powerful Huawei K3V2 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, whereas the Ascend P1 S packs a 1.5 GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 CPU.
It is also worth mentioning that Huawei Ascend D quad boasts a large 4.5-inch IPS+ capacitive touchscreen with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution, while the Ascend P1 S sports a slightly smaller 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display.
