The leading provider of next-generation telecommunications solutions, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., announced on Tuesday at the 4th CDMA Operation & Development Forum in Beijing the launch of the first CDMA2000 1xEV-DO (Evolution-Data Optimized) Revision B Solution that can already be used in commercial products.

According to the company, the new enhanced CDMA network technology can provide leveraged wireless broadband speeds, boosting the existing ones up to three times higher and allowing operators to enhance the quality of the services they offer to users, without the need to make further investments in hardware and infrastructure.

The new EV-DO Revision B solution from Huawei is the first one that allows operators to use it in commercial products, and is reported to offer a downlink rate of up to 9.3 Mbps, while the uplink rate tops 5.4 Mbps. The upgrade from Revision A can be made with a minimum of investments, yet the new solution will enable state-of-the-art mobile broadband services such as VoIP, video telephony, multi-media or online gaming.

“Huawei is leveraging its leadership in CDMA network development and deployment to help operators be first-to-market with the fastest data speeds and the most attractive mobile Internet services,” said Mr. Zhao Ming, president of Huawei CDMA product line. “Our EV-DO Revision B solution provides a cost-effective and enhanced option for CDMA operators and it also ensures a smooth migration path to Long-Term Evolution (LTE).”

Huawei works at the moment with 36 of the world's top 50 mobile phone carriers, and has more than one billion users all around the world. The independent market research firm Dell’Oro issued the Mobility Infrastructure Quarterly Report that places Huawei at the top on the CDMA networks market, due to the fact that the company accounted for 30 percent of the segment in the first quarter of 2009.
