Other Chromebook models out there are incompatible with the method

Users who have acquired a Chromebook recently probably know the laptops come with just 16GB of build in storage. It actually makes sense since everything else should be in the cloud, so you don’t need much locally.

However, more demanding users might like the option of upgrading the notebook to a 128GB SSD, so AusDroid has posted a relatively simple guide on how to get an internal memory update on your Acer C720 Chromebook.

Note that the processes might not be applicable to other Chromebook models, so don’t attempt them on anything other than the Acer C720 laptop. What makes this particular model easily upgradable is the fact the SSD isn't fastened onto the main board, like with other notebooks.

You surely guess what’s coming, you will have to open up the Chromebook (which will void your warranty) to insert the new SSD and then perform a Chrome OS re-install. Of course, you’ll need to order the 128GB SSD before you proceed, after which you can go through the guide to see how to add the extra storage yourself.
