The website will search online for pictures that match your camera's serial number

Probably one of the biggest concerns of today's photographers is losing their gear or worse, getting robbed. Sure, you can always get an insurance for all your gear and focus more on getting the job done and less on having to keep an eye out for possible thieves.

What would you do and how could you find your camera if it gets stolen? One of the answers to this question can be the Internet service called Stolen Camera Finder. This service allows you to track down your device using the EXIF data embedded in your photos.

Many digital cameras include a unique serial number in each photo's EXIF data, which can help identify your camera. If you digital camera gets stolen, SCF might help you find it using the serial number found in one of the photos shot with the camera.

The service will search the Internet for photos that contain the same serial number and will report the location where they were taken if a match is found. This will work only if the user that has your camera uploads photos taken with it to the Internet.
