Google Checkout is a service released by Google last year and it allows you to make online shopping with ease and directly from several merchants located in the entire world.
The company tried to improve the service several times adding more and more features meant to attract users and merchants to use the Google solution. Even if the search giant implemented a lot of new features, the most attracting aspects of the service are represented by the promotions that help you buy products at special prices. After the release of the service, Google decided
to present a new promotion that allowed users to shop online without any processing fee.
After Google recorded a real success for the Checkout service, the company decided to extend the period of the promotion, making it available until December 31, 2007.
Although this promotion offers an important bonus for its users, many customers didn't take full advantage of the service, buying products at the original price. Google decided this is the time to let the customers know about the promotions, so Zachary Bailey, Merchant Operations Coordinator posted a message on the official blog to add new details about the special offer. The Google employee said that customers can take full advantage of the promotion if they place a Google Checkout acceptance logo on your homepage and on the landing pages of your AdWords ads. Zachary Bailey also presented some tips to improve the button placing and the conversions of the Google Checkout in the year 2007 that are mentioned below.
- Choose a Google Checkout button that's the same size as your existing checkout button. Display these buttons side by side if possible.
- If you display your existing checkout buttons or links in different locations on your website, be sure you put a Google Checkout button next to all of your existing checkout buttons or links.
- Display the text "or check out with" between your existing checkout button and the Google Checkout button to make sure your customers understand their options.
- Insert the text "What is Google Checkout?" below the Checkout button, then link this text to a page on your site explaining Google Checkout buyer advantages.
