With sites like damnyouautocorrect.com out there you know something’s up with the Auto-Correction function Apple so thoughtfully implemented in the iOS mobile operating system powering iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads alike.

The function, though clearly well intended, annoys numerous iDevice users who do a lot of typing with the iOS virtual keyboard.

Why? Mostly because autocorrection seldom offers the proper suggestions, like putting an apostrophe in “its” transforming it to “it’s” every single time as if “its” doesn't even exist in people’s vocabulary.

Does Apple really think that those who leave out that apostrophe don’t do this when they use Twitter, chat with their friends on IM clients, or email?

In fact, does this particular autocorrection save any significant amount of time for users, even if they’re keen writing like in calligraphy class? Likely, no.

Many end up banging their heads on a desk after failing to locate the on-off toggle for this thing - hence the purpose of this guide.

Would you be surprised if I told you it’s only four taps away from your Home screen?

Granted, the Auto-Correction function in iOS is well though-out, allowing you to quickly press a sadistically-small “x” (close) button for each and every suggestion the software throws at you.

But why would you want to do this when you know you’re a good typist?

Or perhaps you’re the kind of person that likes to mess around with words to make your SMS / email recipients laugh, right?

Well, for those of you who fit this description, let’s see how we can get that auto-correct function out of your hair.

How to Stop Autocorrect on iOS

Step 4 - Evrika! The long sought Auto-Correction toggle found, at last!

Tap or slide it and it will also disable check-spelling, freeing you of ever having to break your writing flow to dismiss a lousy suggestion that clearly shows how bad of a mind reader iOS really is.
