The car enthusiasts will probably say: "Of course we know, it's the Bugatti Veyron, with her 1001 hp and 253 mph (407 km/h)"

Wrong!

Although a monster of the roads and a technological wonder, the really cool Veyron will no longer be the fastest street-legal car in the world, when a new supercar will enter production, presumably in 2007.

The name is Barabus TKR (not the German tuner Brabus), and she has been designed and built by the British company Barabus Sportscars Ltd, and will be produced in Italy, the official country of supercars like Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Murcielago, Gallardo and good ol' Diablo, just to make Italian manufacturers run in shame.

It took the daring company ten years to produce this car, and the unveiling was continuously delayed due to technical problems. All you Bugatti fans shut up, since the Veyron started to be "mass-produced," let's see...five, six, seven years after the prototype was unveiled?

Now, for some well deserved technical features:

She has 1005 horsepower (Bugatti, eat your heart out). It's more than your "mere" 1001 hp... It can do 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in...unbelievably...1.67 seconds!!! That's a really though one to beat. Some of you will say that such a figure is not even possible. We'll see.

The power plant is not, as you might expect, a huge V12, W18 or W12, neah, it's just a 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers. The body and chassis are made of, of course, carbon fiber.

And now, the speed.... The Veyron has a reported electronically limited 253 mph (407 km/h), but the newcomer has a top speed of 270 mph (435km/h), nearly 20 more than the Veyron.

The price is, surprisingly, not astronomical, compared to the $1.6 million selling price of the Bugatti (although in fact it costs around $3 million to produce, but the carmaker wants to simply prove that such a monster can roam the streets and that's why they agreed to sell her way below the real value). As I was saying, the price of the Barabus TKR is of only $660,000, a real bargain compared to a Veyron, an Enzo, or even the not-so-supercar Aston Martin.

The car was on display at the 2006 British International Motor Show, and the manufacturer said that around 300 or 400 models will be made, which not quite a limited series.

So, crack open the piggy bank and run to get in line for the fastest car of all times!
