Cloudmark has released DesktopOne for Mac, a new security app that enables Mac users to filter out spam from their emails. It also protects against phishing and email-borne viruses, says the company.
Cloudmark DesktopOne for Mac provides filtering options that enable users to block, unblock and scan suspicious messages. It integrates with Apple’s OS X Mail app and Microsoft’s Outlook for Mac. Supported OSes include Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion.
According to the developers, users aren’t required to do any tinkering as Cloudmark DesktopOne detects existing email accounts automatically. You can begin filtering immediately after the installation has completed.
Lastly, Cloudmark’s language-agnostic protection enables it to work anywhere in the world.
Commenting on the new product, Leon Rishniw, Cloudmark’s senior vice president of engineering, says, “Spammers are constantly looking for new ways to catch individuals off-guard and email remains a popular target for attacks.”
“Cloudmark DesktopOne for Mac is the latest extension of our commitment to help safeguard email users against all messaging threats,” adds Rishniw.
“Consumers, small businesses and families can have greater peace of mind knowing their email is constantly being protected against even the most sophisticated messaging attacks,” he says.
Cloudmark DesktopOne for Mac is a free application for individual use, but IT managers (or security-wary households) can opt for additional customization and control using the Pro version.
According to its makers, the paid version is “Ideal for families, small businesses and power users [as] Pro Mode enables users to centrally manage their messaging protection for all their email accounts.”
The Pro app also provides manually screening abilities for message folders, “trusting specified contacts and automatically deleting old spam messages.” An annual Pro subscription sells for $19.95, or roughly €15.
