Apple has confirmed that MainStage 2.2.1 delivers a brand new Driver Latency setting to help users fine tune the latency of their system. A large knowledge-based article is dedicated to teaching folks “how to optimize MainStage to get the best ratio of latency and performance.”

The Cupertino behemoth describes audio latency as a “the phenomenon of sound reaching the ear at some point after it was created.”

The company explains that latency is generally caused by physical distance from the sound source, if you are in the natural world. “With digital audio, there is also latency, in this case caused by buffering,” says Apple.

MainStage 2.2.1 comes to the rescue with a total of three settings that influence the amount of latency for the system. Apple says users can find this trio of knobs at MainStage > Preferences. Users must click the Audio button along the top of the preferences panel. Here’s the full guide, complete with graphics.
