Good news for HTC DROID Incredible 2 owners, as the device is fully compatible with custom themes that were initially made for the HTC Thunderbolt.

It appears that both smartphones feature similar software, which is not surprising as they are manufactured by the same Taiwanese company.

Even though the DROID Incredible 2 comes with a slightly updated HTC Sense UI in comparison with the Thunderbolt, it seems that the framework is the same, thus you will be able to use the same themes on both smartphones.

To add new themes to the ones that come pre-loaded on the DROID Incredible 2, users will need to copy the custom themes, which are packed as .apk files, on their SD memory cards.

The method does not require your phone to be rooted, but you may need to enable the 'Unknown sources' option that allows you to install non-Market apps.

You can do that from the Settings menu, under Applications make sure to check the 'Unknown sources.'

All HTC Sense 2.0 UI skins available for the HTC Thunderbolt can be applied on the DROID Incredible 2, but you will need to install a file manager from the Android Market.

After you transferred the .apk file containing the custom themes on the memory card, locate them using the file manager and click install them as any other application.

After you install the themes, head back to the phone's home screen and click on the Personalize option.

Under the Skins option you will be able to see the newly added themes listed and you can apply any of them.

If by any chance you are using a PC running Windows operating system, the themes will probably be saved as .zip files. If this happens, simply change the files' extension to .apk manually.
