If yesterday we saw which was the most recommended hairstyle for girls with a square face, today we’ll see what the stylists are telling us to do if we have a more oval countenance. And what they’re saying is all only good news because, it seems, having an oval face is nothing short of a blessing, right there with long legs and a proportionate body.

As famed hairstylist Charles Worthington of Charles Worthington Salons in London and New York City tells Marie Claire magazine, women with this type of face, such as is the case of television star and popular model Tyra Banks, have complete freedom of choice when it comes down to picking a hairstyle to best suit them. “This is not a shape that needs to rely on a hairstyle to add softness or balance,” Worthington says, adding that it’s the even proportions of an oval face that make it so versatile.

So, in the end, picking a hairstyle for this type of face can actually come down to being just the materialization of a whim. As a rule, women who fall in this category can do just about anything they want with their hair. “From a cropped cut to a blunt bob to longer, layered styles, virtually anything goes.” as Marie Claire informs us. There are some cases though, when there is also a downside with this type of face, and that is when it tends to be more on the long side.

If that be the case, the best thing to do, stylists say, is to go for extremely long bangs “to visually shorten the distance from the forehead to the chin.” Yet “cheek-length layers will also help balance a longer oval shape,” Worthington reveals.

The same freedom of choice is also possible in the case of parts. Because the face does not necessarily require a certain cut or part to look good, the sky’s the limit when it comes to choosing a do. However, Worthington says a sharp center part is recommended for a more chic, elegant look. Furthermore, an oval face can be “broken up” by a side part - of course, the longer the face, the more off-center the part must be.

To sum up, in the case of an oval face, not only does any length go, but also any type of do. Curls or straight hair, bangs or a swept-back hairstyle, side or center part, the possibilities are virtually limitless for women with a long, oval face.
