iOS 7 testers who forgot to update to the new GM build seeded by Apple recently ended up with bricked iPhones over the past weekend. If you’re in the same boat, read on because there’s a quick fix to your woes.

Apparently this happened to Gizmodo's Kat Hannaford, who discovered to immense frustration that she couldn’t use iTunes 11.0.5 to restore the handset.

According to iPhoneHacks, all you need to work around this issue is use iTunes 11.1 to download the iOS 7.0.2 firmware update and install it manually (using an Alt/Option click on the Restore button).

Backing up won’t be necessary since your device is already bricked, so pray to your god that you still have a relatively recent backup of your phone’s contents in iTunes. When the iOS 7.0.2 update finishes installing, right-click your iPhone in the left pane of the iTunes interface and select Restore from Backup.
