New clip details the app closing process in the first Windows 8 update

Microsoft has implemented a different way to close Metro apps in Windows 8.1 Preview, so simply dragging them down no longer does the job.

From now, users are required to drag the target application to the bottom of the screen and wait for a few moments. The app will then flip and show its logo before getting fully closed.

The old app dragging technique doesn’t shut down an application entirely, but only suspends it, so the next time you launch it, you can start where you left off. It could be a bit more difficult for beginners, but the new system could actually make sense in the end.
