As we all know, desperate times call for desperate measures, and this man discovered one way to weather the storm and still manage to keep in touch with loved ones.

The man was photographed charging his cell phone and actually managing to make a call, by connecting his charger to a lamppost, in New York City.

According to the Business Insider, the picture was taken between 47th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues, in Manhattan.

It turns out that outlets are incorporated at the base of lampposts, although they are not in plain sight. One would have to remove a few screws and hatches to get to the outlet, but this newyorker did it.

Superstorm Sandy has caused power failure throughout the city, as 250,000 were left without electricity in lower Manhattan, after a Con Ed plant explosion, a problem that should be solved in a week's time.
