Many people are complaining that they have troubles with the I9000's voicemail feature, especially because of the tone of the dialpad, whish is too long for some services. Of course this does not happen always, but if you're trying to enter the digits faster than usual, you'll having issues.

Also, there have been reports that the issue might happen when you are in areas with poor GSM reception, but this is not quite certain.

Anyway, a few people suggested that you should select speaker prior to selecting the dial pad, so you won't get the longer tones, but that would seem a weird solution for such an expensive smartphone.

Having access to the voicemail only when the speakerphone is selected doesn't look like the optimal solution.

The solution to this small problem is found in the phone's Sound and Display settings. If you're browsing the Sound and Display menu you will notice the Audible touch tones option, which should be checked.

To be able to access the voicemail without selecting the speakerphone, simply deselect this feature and you won't have issues at all with touch tones.

The solution has been tested and seems to be fixing the problem. This is very useful when you're trying to pay your bills through the voicemail or do other stuff that requires the use of the dialpad.

Those that are using telephone banking have been hurt pretty bad by the issue, as the length of the tone made it almost unusable. Fortunately, the solution above will fix your problems and you'll be able to use any service that require “short tones” on your dialpad.

If you're using a rooted Samsung Galaxy I9000 the solutions are multiple as modified ROMs can give you the option to replace the default dialpad tones.

Feel free to add more tips and tricks, especially if you're an advanced Android smartphone user.
