Apple has set up a new webpage to help you get a computer without paying sales tax

Everyone will say: Buy it on Amazon. It's cheaper and you don't pay sales tax. That may be true, but Amazon only offers the regular Macs, no built-on-demand options. If you need a new Mac this summer, Apple offers some good ideas.

The new Info page was launched this week along with an email campaign. Customers in the United States can take advantage of the back-to-school promotions and double that with a tax holiday for some extra savings.

The webpage is titled "How to get a tax break on Apple products." The tech giant explains that if you live in the US and your state offers a tax holiday, you can buy some of their products without paying the sales tax. There are some conditions, but you may be in luck, even when you buy it online.

Apple makes sure to explain that, when you get the computer via the online store, sales tax will appear during checkout, but the customers will see the correct tax amount on their checkout email.

In order to see the states that do have a tax holiday, Apple has set up pop-up windows with information on those states. This makes sense because different states have their holiday tax periods in different days and not all products are eligible.

For example, in Alabama, sales tax holiday starts on August 1st and it only lasts for 3 days. You are only allowed to buy an Apple product this way if you purchase it as an individual and the items may not exceed $750 (€559). You can get computers and computer accessories like a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, computer software, and other devices except mobile phones. Florida has the exact same rules.

In Georgia, you can only benefit from the discounts in the first two days of August, but the total sales price can go up to $1,000 (€746) and you are only allowed to get accessories.

US residents of Louisiana and Massachusetts may be some of the most fortunate ones. Their limit can go up to $2,500 (€1,865).

Apple coupled this offer with their Back-to-School offer. As a future student, buying a Mac from the Apple Store will get you a $100 (€74). If you choose an iPad or iPhone, you will get a $50 (€37.31) gift card.

In order to qualify for this you need to be a college student, a student accepted to a college, a parent buying for a student, or a faculty or staff member from any grade level. The purchase has to be done in an Apple Store or on their Education Online store.
