The best apps to shoot, edit and share the photos taken with your iPhone

Take a look at the "Most Popular Cameras in the Flickr Community" chart. You are going to see that the first position was taken by the iPhone 5. OK, what about a real camera? Well, the second position is occupied by the iPhone 5s, followed by iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and only on the fifth position you are going to find the Canon Rebel T3i.

Considering that Flickr is the largest most active photographers community in the world, that says something about how many people are using their smartphone to take pictures.

Of course you prefer your iPhone. It's always with you, it has a great camera, GPS and you can share and edit the photos right away. This is what the AppStore editors had in mind when they have created this new selection of apps called "Essentials Photography 101." This was not designed for the pro photographers, but they will find some awesome tools in here as well.

The selection is split into 3 main categories: Shoot, Edit and Share, and they all hold a total of 15 apps. The best ones out there. Good news is that most of the great apps are free.

If you need to take a photo, the default Camera app in iOS does the job. Being built into iOS makes it easy to just flip the Control Center up from the bottom of the screen and press the camera icon. That's it! Just two gestures and you are ready to take that photo.

However, if you need to take it one step further, you may want to try the new VSCO Cam application. This app provides a very good collection of presets and tools to edit your photos. The app is free and there are some in-app purchases that you can get for free or pay up to $5.99 (€5.99) for more options.

When it comes to editing your photos, Apple's own iPhoto is great. However, this is not free and it will be gone from the AppStore as soon as iOS 8 comes out. Apple plans to replace it with the Photos, an app that will run on iOS and Mac and provide editing capabilities along with sharing features.

Almost all users taking photos with their iPhone will ultimately share them. iOS makes it easy to post them to Facebook and Twitter right away, but if you need a finer control over what you share, make sure to get the Instagram app. It is free and your pictures will look professional because of the filters and tools. You can be part of a larger community and get appreciated for your pictures.

And just because we were talking about Flickr in the beginning of this article, the website has an awesome iOS app that can help you capture, edit and save your photos in your Flickr account for free.

Check out all the apps in this selection and be sure to learn how to be a better photographer.
