Sound recording is becoming more and more a thing you meet everyday in everyone's hands, be it in the shape of smartphones with some enhanced capabilities or the rather new, more and more popular, handy sound recorders.

And since there is indeed so much technology available it was quite expected that the standards went higher and higher while prices dropped. It's the case of the Zoom H2 handheld recorder: small, hyper-portable and fully loaded with tech, selling for a more than convenient price and offering multiple choices.

The Zoom H2 can record audio in many ways since it sports not the traditionally-met 2 microphones but three! Thus choices like Front 120? cardioid, Front 90? supercardioid, Rear 120? cardioid, Rear 90? supercardioid and 360? polar patterns are just a button-push away: no matter if you want to record a single person speaking or more individuals' speech in a wider field or even 360-degree surround-ready acoustic image - it's all as simple as 1-2-3!

The 512MB card is included in the package but the max 4GB SD card insertable can record 2 hours recording at 96kHz, 6 hours at 44.1kHz, or up to a staggering 138 hours in MP3 format. You can benefit from the many on-site available options such as full transport controls, one-push recording, volume keys, headphone-out monitoring and external microphone jack. If this is not enough, then how about adding mic gain control line in and USB 2.0 connectivity?

The Zoom H2 sports also a lo-cut filter for the "windy" situations which is sworn to greatly improve the sound of your recordings. And because live situations can also mean recording a band playing live, you have a bass/guitar tuner built in. Add the time stamp function and the nifty available accessories such as mic clip adapter, tripod stand, USB cable and AC adapter and think: all for under $200! So what are you waiting for?
