My cogwheel menu doesn’t have a “rename” option for my mouse (though it does for my cell and keyboard). What should I do?

I'm not the first person to use it, and you don't have a solution for that!

If none of the basics work it's probably because your computer doesn't have the magic mouse update. Search for magic mouse update 1.0; that should unlock all of the functions including renaming the mouse.

Perfect and worked fine for me. One thing: sounds obvious but the Mouse has to be showing "Connected"for this to work. If not connected it might show in the list but you get an "Update Name" instead of a "Rename" option which seems to do nothing.

Thanks for posting this! I missed the cog wheel in the corner. I bought my magic mouse used and was sick of seeing "gene's mouse" when I connected it.

Extremely helpful and saved me lot's of time....much appreciated.

didn't work :( found another way though:
1: System Preferences
2: Keyboard and Mouse
3: Bluetooth
4: Change Name of Mouse there :)
