Technocrati, a search engine specialized in blogs, stated that every 24 hours, 80,000 new blogs appear. At this rate, it won't be long until we'll all have at least one blog.
Especially since this activity can be very rewarding from the financial point of view. If we are to believe Darren Rowse at ProBlogger, the revenues
which can be obtained from blogging are not as small as someone might think. In an interview for
About.com, Darren Rowse, who also owns DigitalCameraReviews and LivingRoom, aside from ProBlogger, said that he makes about $15,000 a month from his online activities.
Rowse made his blogging debut in November 2002 and his revenues come mostly from AdSense. In 2003, Rowse also opened the digital camera blog, which quickly became a hit.
But don't think that making that kind of money is easy. Rowse is working 50-60 hours per week, not to mention he had to learn a lot about SEO (search engine optimization) to place his blogs at the top of the search engines' result list.
The interview with Rowse also contains some advices for those who want to follow in his footsteps; in a nutshell, the secret of a successful blog seems to be the identifying of a niche domain.
