Long-running sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” is drawing close to the inevitable finale where Ted Mosby meets with the woman that will be his wife. CBS has just announced that the show will be airing the final episode on March 31, 2014.

After nine seasons of the show, the entire thing will become clear to fans during a one-hour special. The network seems set not to be prolonging the show until May in order to get better audience ratings for the sweeps, instead choosing to keep its promise to the viewers to reveal Ted's wife.

But before you say goodbye to Ted and the gang, the producers have something else up their sleeve: the 200th episode that will be airing on January 27 will tell the story from the Mother's perspective. Series creator and executive produced Craig Thomas promised that “you're going to be so sick of [the mother] by the end [of the series].”

Following the completion of “How I Met Your Mother,” CBS will be launching a whole new series called “Friends with Better Lives,” starring Kevin Connolly, James Van Der Beek and Brooklyn Decker, that tells the story of a group of friends who are all at different stages in their life, either married, divorced, engaged or single.
