“How I Met Your Mother” was such a successful sitcom that the producers are now making a spinoff called, you've guessed it, “How I Met your Dad.” While there are still enough family members left for a few more series, the lead in this one was given to Greta Gerwig.

Greta is known for her role in “Frances Ha” and, at the moment, is already preparing for her role in the pilot of the spinoff. If CBS picks up the show, Gerwig is also expected to act as producer and also do some writing.

The character Gerwig plays in the sitcom is called Sally, and she's been described as a “female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life,” as per USA Today. She is trapped in a relationship with her new husband and feels like a break-up is inevitable.

On the other side of the family tree, “How I Met Your Mother” is billed to air its finale on March 31, after a TV run that lasted nine seasons.
