Stunning gaming mobile phones are possible

Nintendo's connection to mobile phones goes a long way back in history, which grounds the possibility of an actual gaming handset soon coming from this company. If the company does look to reach this market, then it should better hurry, as strong competitors are already taking up ground.

Having portable devices to take entertainment everywhere looks like the new trend, with many game players turning to the freedom and mobility of handsets. Games are also evolving towards a continuously improved experience, one that uses the growing resources for better graphics and challenges closer to those of gaming consoles.

Nintendo should be a perfect fit in this scenario, with years of experience in portable consoles. In fact, all it needs to do is to find a way to also add basic telecom features in a product similar to those it already has out on the market, but with a more cellular-like design. An easy solution for this would be that of partnering with a handset producer, although this should leave a considerable mark on the final product.

Rumors have been going by, saying that Sony Ericsson also plans to bring out a PSP mobile phone, with official confirmations to support them. The company was reluctant in giving an estimate date for when this should happen, although everybody expects to see it towards the middle of next year.

Nokia already went deep into the mobile gaming market, with its N-Gage devices and the service which is set for a close release, this December. The problem with hybrid PSP mobile phones is that they still don't manage to bring the same amount of functionality and feeling that consoles do. An experienced producer such as Nintendo and the growing technology of mobile phones should be a match made in heaven, although it's left to see how that will end up.
