How About Some Brains to Go With The Breasts?

Salma Hayek has a rather strange confession to make to us all. No, don't give me that look, she hasn't announced that she's a lesbian, although that would have made a whole lot of women out there really happy. And no, she's not pregnant again (in any case, if she is she's keeping it under wraps). The Mexican actress, famed for her curvy figure, has confessed that she used to be flat-chested when she was younger and regularly prayed for bigger breasts. And what do you know - one day she got them.

Salma even admitted she used to put her hands in holy water to try and make a miracle happen. "My mother and I stopped at a church during a road trip we were making from our home in Mexico" she says. "When we went inside the church, I prayed for the miracle that I wanted to happen. I put my hands in holy water and said, 'Please God, give me some breasts!'" And it worked - just months later, Salma says she started to develop the breasts we have all learned to love and, ahem, appreciate.

"He gave me them! Within a few months, I developed a growing spurt, as all teenagers do, and I was very pleased with the way I grew outwards" she told David Letterman during his show. Um, OK, I can pretty much believe the "please give me breasts" thing, having been there and done that myself (with rather different results, but that's a whole other story) but I always suspected that was one of those things you're embarrassed about when you grow up and you just tuck it into a corner of your memory and forget about it. But it seems that Salma is either a lot more self confident than most women out there (which is perfectly possible) or the development of her breasts blurred an area of her brain in charge of realizing how much information is too much information.


Salma also recently revealed she was told she would never make it in Hollywood because her height was a deformity. "I had my struggles. I am 5ft 2in and in Mexico where I am from, it was very important to be tall. I grew up in a world where beauty was not only tall, it was white and blonde with blue eyes. People used to say that the short thing was a deformity. I was really upset about my height and then one day I said, 'Who decided that it's better to be tall? Am I less healthy? Am I less capable?'" Well, if you ask me, there's some pent-up frustration there. Someone needs to let go. And I would love to know more about the "breasts" part. The growth mechanism perhaps?
