A new Apple Retail Store is about to open in Houston, TX, March 16, possibly coinciding with the physical availability of Apple's third-generation of tablet computers - the iPad 3.

Citing a source involved with the store’s opening, The Houston Chronicle reports that the city’s newest Apple Store is scheduled to open on March 16. The report notes that the opening may coincide with first-day sales of the iPad 3 which, to the author’s credit, may be an accurate prognostication.

The store is located in the Highland Village Shopping center at Westheimer and Drexel. The opening was originally planned for January, but it was delayed for undisclosed reasons.

An Apple spokesperson said the company had nothing to announce about the store. Construction is still ongoing, which means the March 16 opening isn’t rock solid, but the source said it was “pretty firm.”
