To be honest, I am not crazy about desktop search features, no matter the operating system I use, and the reason is that I am one of those file manager addicts that can do everything with such a program, if it has at least the basic features it should have, of course. I don't need to find out where my files are, because I know where my files are, but not everybody is this way. "Why use a file manager? I don't like that, that or that, and I don't even want to know how to use it! The tools that come with the operating system are enough for me!", this is what some may think, and they may even be right in their own way. But if you're not using a file manager, what can you do to locate your files without having to browse your entire hard drive's contents? Spotlight uses a metadata search engine to help you locate documents, pictures, music, applications, System Preference panes, and even specific words in your documents, but lacks some advanced features at this time.
