Anchor Free has just released a new version for their VPN service, Hotspot Shield. Besides the new looks, the latest revision of the application also improves the online privacy.

Among the new features included in Hotspot Shield 2.50 there is automatic network detection, which is designed to recognize unsecured Wi-Fi networks and warn the user of the risk. Furthermore, the application can be set to start automatically when connecting to new or unknown networks, thus encrypting the web sessions.

Administrator privileges are no longer required to install and use the program, and it can be installed on corporate/enterprise networks. Secure browsing relies on a blacklist of 3.5 million known and suspected malicious Web domains.

Another improvement is the visibility of the connection status, which is now displayed in a clearer manner, straight in the web browser.
