Users of Microsoft’s Hotmail service in various countries might experience certain difficulties when it comes to accessing their accounts today, September 25th.

Many are reporting issues with the Hotmail login process, noting that they are continuously redirected to the sign-in page, even if they have entered the correct username and password.

However, it appears that the issue is not widespread, and that some users are actually able to access their inboxes.

Here's what some of those affected had to say:

[USERCOMMENT=Schwarz]There is a problem signing in to Hotmail. There is no error. Signing in goes back to the sign in page.[/USERCOMMENT] Another one says about the same:

[USERCOMMENT=Nervousgirl]I'm in Australia too.. Exactly same issue, the hotmail keeps me on the login page even if I typed my usernamd & password. Can't re-set the password neither. My finace's hotmail account is perfectly fine...what happened?[/USERCOMMENT]

We reached out to Microsoft to learn more on the matter, and the company informed us that they are aware of the issue and that work is being done towards resolving it.

“Microsoft is investigating an issue affecting users' access to some Microsoft services, and we are working to restore full access as quickly as possible,” a Microsoft spokesperson told us.

Users interested in staying on top of this can head over to the service’s status page, which suggests that the problem has been recently resolved and that the service should work just fine. While there, they will also learn that another issue is impacting Hotmail at the moment.

Apparently, the search feature in the mailbox is not working properly, yet Microsoft is looking into the matter, and promises a fix in the shortest time.

“Hotmail customers using search feature in their mailbox may experience issues and receive an error: ‘We didn't find any result’. Our Operations team is working to fix this issue as soon as possible,” the company notes on the aforementioned status page.

If you experience any of said issues, let us know by dropping a comment below.

Update: Microsoft's services have been restored to normal shortly after the sign-in issue was acknowledged, just as the aforementioned status page showed. Microsoft provided a statement on the matter:

Some Microsoft services experienced a short-term issue that caused a small number of customers not to be able to access their accounts. We worked quickly to resolve the issue, and service is now restored to normal. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this caused our customers.
