14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft’s Hotmail service is currently down and users cannot sign in into their accounts at the moment.
However, Microsoft notes that they are aware of the issue, and that they are working on finding a solution for the outage.
“We're aware of sign-in issues - we're investigating and working to get them fixed,” Microsoft announced on Twitter.
The Redmond-based software giant has also pointed users to a specific web page where they can check on the status of the service.
“Hotmail is having sign-in problems. You might see an error message when you try to sign in,” the company notes on the said page.
At the moment, the webmail service appears to be the only one that is experiencing problems, while other online offerings from Microsoft should be up and running properly.
A quick look at the said page shows that the Calendar, Messenger, SkyDrive, Social updates and other services are currently working normally.
The sign-in problems have been reported about an hour ago for the first time, and it appears that more users are affected by them.
On the other hand, not all Hotmail users are experiencing these issues with the service, which suggests that this might be only a localized problem.
For the time being, Microsoft hasn’t offered specific details on the matter, but the company is expected to offer some more of them as the service begins being restored.
The software company has yet to offer an ETA for when the service will be back online. However, those who would like to stay on top of the situation should head over to the aforementioned webpage to learn more on how things are evolving.
At the same time, you might also want to keep an eye on Twitter, as info on the Hotmail outage is coming from the micro-social networking site as well. Update: Microsoft managed to find a way to solve the issue.
