Hotline Miami is making its way to the PlayStation 4 home entertainment system from Sony, according to a recent announcement made by publisher Devolver Digital.

Although not extremely surprising, as the game is already available on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms since June 2013, the news is still something to look forward to for PlayStation 4 owners, especially since the game will continue to support cross-buy.

This means that existing owners of the PlayStation version of Hotline Miami will be able to pick up the PlayStation 4 version at no cost, once it comes out. The publisher motivates the decision by the fact that they feel that a user who bought the game for a PlayStation platform should have the right to own it on Vita, PS4 and PS3 and play it however they wish, and by stating that PC and PlayStation are totally different environments.

The PlayStation 4 version of Hotline Miami is being developed by Dutch studio Abstraction Games, under the watchful eye of original maker Dennaton games.

In other news, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is also in the works, scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2014, following the events in the original game and being created as a "grand finale" for the game.
