Dennaton Games has unveiled the collector's edition of its upcoming murderer simulator Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, showing everyone what low-fi goodies they'll be able to get their hands on.

The collector's edition can be purchased directly from the iam8bit store starting today, going for a price of $60 / €49, and packing together a three-disc vinyl set featuring 28 selected tracks from the game's soundtrack.

Those who purchase the limited edition version will get three 180-gram (premium quality) discs housed in a tri-fold jacket embellished by original art by Niklas Akerblad (also known as El Huervo). The jacket can be unfolded to be viewed in its entirety, and the package also features more artwork, to be revealed soon.

The music of Hotline Miami has been created by artists such as Moon, El Huervo and Perturbator, and talented individuals such as Megadrive and Magic Sword lent their creativity to Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.

The collector's edition includes a custom phone card, containing a download code for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, as well as the full digital soundtrack via Steam, available for Mac, Windows and Linux.

More low-fi murder action

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is the follow-up to the hit indie game of 2012, a pixelated 2D top-down action video game styled in the fashion of Nicolas Winding Refn's "Drive," a movie with a strong '80s vibe.

The game blends a surreal narrative with stealth and brutal action sequences, demanding perfect mechanical execution and delivering extreme violence and a groovy soundtrack.

The game follows an unnamed protagonist who, at the beginning of most chapters, wakes up in his apartment and listens to some weird messages on his answering machine, instructing him to perform certain tasks, which most of the time actually mean killing everyone at the provided location.

Players can choose from a variety of animal masks to wear, offering various advantages, and the impact of the game has been so great as to turn wearing '80s jackets and animal masks into a veritable cosplay fetish all around the world.

The game uses a variety of weapons and techniques, from knocking enemies down and repeatedly smashing their head on the floor to using fully automated rifles, and the sequel expands on the array of available weaponry, adding a chainsaw and the ability to duel-wield machine guns.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Collector's Edition will ship sometime in Q1 2015, after the game is launched. The track listing is secret for the time being, so there's no telling what's in there.
