The development team at Dennaton Games announces that it is working on a straight up sequel to its action hit Hotline Miami, which will take place later during the ‘90s and will include a new main character and a new story.

The team plans to make the previous protagonist a minor feature in Hotline Miami 2, while keeping the musical style of the game and introducing new ways of killing combatants.

Developers Jonatan Soderstrom and Dennis Wedin say that they have complete freedom when it comes to the new game, which might be launched at the same time on the PC and on the PlayStation Vita handheld.

Wedin also makes it clear that the sequel will be the final Hotline Miami title that they work on, telling Joystiq, "It's the grand finale, for us."
